John lives with his wife, Laura, in Seaton, East Devon.
From 2014 to 2017 John was Chief Executive of Viridor Credits Environmental Company, the forerunner of Valencia Communities Fund.
The majority of his working life has been concerned with teaching and learning starting with a series of appointments as an Instructor Officer in the Royal Navy.
He went on to become Director of Operations at Somerset Training and Enterprise Council and later at Somerset Learning and Skills Council.
There followed a number of senior appointments at City & Guilds.
Previous voluntary roles include a Director of Young Enterprise South West, a Governor of Richard Huish College in Taunton and trustee of Devon Historic Buildings Trust.
