In March 2022, Viridor Ltd's landfill arm became Valencia Waste Management. All landfill sites previously owned by Viridor were transferred with the new company, with Viridor Ltd retaining its Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs).
As a result of this change, funding for new projects from Valencia Communities Fund will cease to be available in ERF areas that do not have an associated Valencia Waste Management landfill site. Furthermore, the Taunton funding area will also be closed, based as it was around Viridor's head office.
The three ERF areas affected are:
Runcorn, Cheshire
Exeter, Devon
Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
The final deadline for submission of the stage 2 application in these four areas will be 31 July 2023. After this date, Valencia Communities Fund will no longer accept applications in these areas.
This change does not affect projects that have already received an offer of funding.
All other funding areas will continue to accept applications as normal.
